PHOTOS: ‘They Ask Us To Pay For Voters Card,’ Abuja Residents Lament Long Queue At INEC Office

Residents at Gwagwalada in Abuja, have expressed frustration on their inability to register for voters card.

When THE WHISTLER correspondent visited the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) area office at Sneikh Maaji Road opposite Christ Anglican Schools Gwagwalada, on Thursday, some residents were seen trying to enter the office.

One of the residents, who was at the office told our reporter that they came there to register for the voter’s card, but it was taking too much time because of the crowd.

“If you want to save your time, just approach them and give them money so they can attend to you faster,” one man lamented, adding that they seemed to have deliberately created the delay.

When asked how much was being paid for faster access, another resident said, “There is no specific amount to be paid, all you have to do is call the man by the side and agree with him on the amount to pay, and your voter’s card will be worked on.”

However, it was impossible to see any of the officials because the gate was shut.
