Pinnick Only Recognised NFF President – FIFA

World football governing body FIFA said it recognizes only Amaju Pinnick as the President of Nigeria Football Federation NFF.

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino while reacting to the renewed power tussle at the NFF said: “The situation is very clear. Pinnick was duly elected some years ago, and FIFA is aware of all this.

“It is also clear to all within the family that there can be no interference in the running of the national federations by any party, especially those outside the football family.

“So, Pinnick is the President of NFF for FIFA, because he is the one elected,’’ he added while responding to questions at a press conference in Moscow on Friday.

Infantino also warned NFF, who is also a member of FIFA, to control the situation so as not risk possible sanctions from the Federation.

Recall that Pinnick was recently served a quit notice as the Federal Government ordered him to step down for Chris Giwa, who was voted as President of the NFF in a congress that wasn’t recognized by FIFA to take over the running of the apex football governing body in the country.

The decision from the Federal Government to sack Pinnick was a fallout of a Supreme Court ruling delivered on April 27, 2018.

The apex court had in its judgment restored the orders of the Federal High Court, setting aside the purported election into the Executive Committee of the NFF held on September 30, 2014 in Owerri.

The purported election produced Pinnick as NFF President.

Giwa had obtained a Jos court order to take over the running of affairs at the NFF in compliance with a Supreme Court order.

Pinnick was recently appointed First Vice President of the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF.
