Police Arraign Iyanya For Car Theft

Nigeria singer, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has been arraigned by the Police Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, over an alleged car theft.

The police had filed a one-count charge of car theft against the musician at the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere.

According to the charge sheet marked, LD/9024C/2019, the musician was accused of the conversion of a vehicle to his own.

Chukwu Agwu, the prosecution counsel, alleged that the singer committed the offence sometimes in September 2018.

The police alleged that Iyanya “dishonestly converted to your own use or use of another person a black Toyota Landcruiser Prado Jeep with Chassis Number: JTEBX7FJ7EK165480, Engine Number: 2TRI385954 and Registration Number: MAVINIY, a property of The Temple Management Company Limited, represented by one Ayodeji Olomojobi, Esq.”

However, the singer pleaded not guilty after the charge was read. The Justice Okikiolu-Ighile subsequently released him to his lawyer and adjourned the case till February 27 and March 17, for ruling on his bail application and commencement of trial.
