Police Arrest Manhole Thief On Port Harcourt Flyover

Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Anderson Ephraim caught removing manhole on the Garrison flyover in Port Harcourt.

An eyewitness told THE WHISTLER that the suspected thief, who was dressed like a mechanic, parked his car on the highway and pretended to be fixing a problem underneath the vehicle.

A police patrol team, which was suspicious of the car, stopped and caught him removing a manhole.

He was immediately arrested and taken to the nearby Garrison Police Station.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the arrest to THE WHISTLER.

He said, “I was alerted this morning about the manhole thief who has been stealing manholes around the state capital.

“I have also asked them to transfer his case file to Moscow road (Headquarters) for further questioning and interrogations to ascertain if he has other gang members or involved in other crimes in the state.”

THE WHISTLER gathered that stealing of manholes has increased since the recent completion of the 8th flyover in the state capital.
