Police Ask Abia Community To Produce Arsonists Who Attacked Station

Community and traditional leaders in Ebem Ohafia, Abia State have been advised to produce those who took part in the wanton destruction of government facilities, including a police station in the community, after a native of the area, Friday Arunsi, was reportedly killed by a team of policemen recently.

The call was made on Monday by the head of the police investigative panel and the DIG, Force Criminal Intelligence, Anthony Ogbizi, who visited the scene of crime along with the Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Janet Agbede and the AIG in charge of Zone 9 Umuahia, Baba Tijani.

According to Ogbizi, the police would employ the full weight of the law to fish out the perpetrators.

He accused the community of hiding those who allegedly committed the crime.

The police boss disclosed that the force was treating the matter with all needed seriousness, saying that his presence in the community was enough proof.

While stating that the police constable who pulled the trigger on the late Arunsi had been arrested with the team of policemen who were with him on the fateful day, Ogbizi emphasized that the police was transparent in the handling of the issue.

He further stated that the police exercised restraint because it was not interested in spilling blood, and appealed to the community to fish out those who looted police weaponry.

Furthermore, the DIG said the community wad blessed with illustrious sons and daughters who could prevail on the leaders of the community to fish out perpetrators of the crime, and wondered why they had remained quiet.

He concluded that such posture was an endorsement of the crime by the community.
