Police Confirm Explosion At Ekiti Govt Secretariat

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the explosion that rocked the old secretariat of the State Government on Saturday.

According to Punch, Police Commissioner in the state, Asuquo Amba who confirmed the incident at the site of the blast said he suspected that the explosion was caused by counter-terrorism accessories kept in the office.

The blast, which went off next door to the governor’s office also brought down a building around the area and affected a section of the state’s ministry of chieftaincy affairs, as well as damaged part of the finance ministry.

There were, however, no casualties in the incident.

“Let my men from anti-bomb department check around. Officers of the anti-bomb are combing the place as you can see,” Asuquo said.

The State Commissioner of information and civic orientation, Muyiwa Olomilua also confirmed the incident to reporters.

Governor Kayode Fayemi also visited the site of the explosion in company of Asuquo and the Chairman Council of Obas, Ajibade Alabi, who is the Alawe of Ilawe.
