Police Declare IBB’s Spokesman Kassim Afegbua Wanted

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the arrest of Kassim Afegbua, spokesman of Ex-Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd.).

Force spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, who confirmed the development said Afegbua is wanted in connection with a statement he issued on behalf of his principal on Sunday.

“The IGP has ordered the arrest of Kassim Afegbua for making false statements, injurious falsehood, defamation of character and for an act capable of inciting public disturbance throughout the country,” Moshood told TheCable.

“He is therefore declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force and should report at the nearest police station anywhere he is in the country.”

Recall that on Sunday afternoon Afegbua issued a statement issued on behalf of Babangida, on critical national issues one of which is asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019.

IBB’s statement comes less than two weeks after former President Olusegun Obasanjo released a similar statement, advising President Buhari against reelection.
