Police Deploy 5,000 Cops For Ondo LG Election

Ondo State Police command has said 5000 of its personnel will be on duty to monitor the local government election holding across the state on Saturday.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami, who said this at a press briefing, expressed the police preparedness for the poll.

Salami said police officers from neighbouring states of Edo, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti would join the over 5,000 police officers in the state for the governorship election.

The CP said the police would be joined by Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and the Department of State Services to ensure that voters and other law abiding persons were not harassed nor attacked before, during and after the poll.

Salami warned against violence while urging stakeholders to support security agents to ensure a peaceful poll.

For the smooth conduct of Saturday’s poll, the Police commissioner disclosed that about 10 Police officers will monitor each of the polling unit in the state.

He said the police have perfected all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the election, adding that security of lives and property of the people are of high priority to the state police command.
