Police Investigate Officer Allegedly Extorting Tricycle Operator In Abia

The Abia State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video circulating on Facebook showing a traffic officer allegedly attempting to extort an auto-rickshaw (Keke) rider.

In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka and made available to newsmen on Monday, the officer in the viral video has been identified, and the matter is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa however reassured the general public of the Command’s zero tolerance for unprofessional conduct, particularly actions capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force.

The statement reads, “The Abia State Police Command is aware of a trending video on Facebook showing a traffic officer of the Command who was alleged of attempting to extort an auto-rickshaw (Keke) rider.

“The officer involved has been identified, and investigation into the incident is ongoing at the state CID.

“The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, reiterates the Command’s zero tolerance for any form of unprofessional conduct that may tarnish the image of the Force.

“He assures the public that in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, officers and men of the Command will continue to be professional, service-driven, rule of law compliant, and people-friendly in the discharge of their duties across the State.
