Police Kill Wanted Armed Robber In Enugu

The police public relations officer, Enugu State Police Command, weekend announced the killing of a wanted armed robbery suspect, Chukwuemeka Ugwu. Ugwu was notorious and operated in Enugu and Abakaliki. Amarizu said the suspect was killed after a gun duel.

According to him, Ugwu was a recalcitrant criminal and had served many years of prison sentences in Enugu and Abakaliki prisons before his death.

“In the morning of March 28 and through intelligence information, the armed robbery kingpin, Chukwuemeka Ugwu, alias Akpuike, was trailed by a police anti-robbery squad to his criminal hideout at Aguowa axis of Trans-Ekulu in Enugu.“

He further announced that the gun duel ensued between the suspect, his boys and the police anti-robbery squad when they saw the police operatives, adding that the suspect was outgunned by the superior fire power of the police.

“The superior fire power of the police operatives resulted in the armed robbery kingpin sustaining serious wounds. The suspect was promptly rushed to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku Ozala for medical attention, and was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty,” he said.
