Police Nab Gun Fabricator, 2 Robbery Suspects In Imo

The Imo State police command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and a gun fabricator along Isu-Njaba road in Imo state.

The robbery suspects, Obiaka Uchenna ‘m’ aged 23 from Isiozi Umuaka in Isu-Njaba LGA and Michael Ihunna ‘m’ aged 24 from Uba Umuaka in Isu-Njaba LGA were alleged to be involved in robbery incidents along the Isu-Njaba road.

According to the state’s police spokesperson, Michael Abattam, the suspects were nabbed by the commands tactical team while on patrol along the Isu-Njaba road on November 1, 2021. 

“On searching them the following items were recovered which includes : 

1.    Two (2) locally made pistols

2.    One (1) live cartridge

3.    One (1) expanded cartridge 

4.    One (1) Jack knife

5.    One Pax POS Machine

6.    Some quantity of weed suspected to be Indian Hemp

7.    Two (2) MTN Sim Cards

8.    Two (2) Airtel Sim Cards

9.    Two (2) Memory Cards

10.    One (1) Infinix Charger

11.    One (1) Wrist Watch

12.    One (1) Bangle

13.    One (1) white cap

14.    Two (2) flat slippers

15.    Four (4) screw drivers

He said upon interrogation, the robbery suspects revealed the identity of the gun fabricator as one Ozor Nwankwo from Isiozi Umuakachi in Isu-Njaba LGA of Imo.

“The suspects were brought to the station and on interrogation, they confessed to the crime and mentioned one OZOR NWAKO ‘m’ a welder , as the one who use to manufacture and sell the locally made guns to criminals . They admitted to have bought the two recovered guns from him. 

“On 02/11/2021 at about 1430 hours , the ever gallant tactical teams stormed the house of the locally made guns manufacturer , OZOR NWAKO ‘m’ of Isiozi Umuakachi in Isu Njaba LGA of Imo State, where he was arrested and his house and premises searched. 

“A generating set was recovered and brought to the station.  

“Investigation is ongoing and efforts are on top gear to arrest other members of their gang mention during interrogation . However, as soon as investigation is concluded the suspects will be charge to court,” said Abattam.
