Police Receive Corpses Of Bandits After Shootout In Kastina

The Kastina State Police Command on Wednesday received the remains of three bandits killed in a shootout with operatives in the state.

Speaking on the situation, the state Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, said the shootout happened at about 9:30 pm on Tuesday.

Over 50 bandits reportedly invaded some villages including Unguwar Bera and Tashar Mangoro in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

They were, however, intercepted by operatives of Dutsinma Area Command following a distress call.

The operatives laid an ambush for the bandits at a spot between Mara and Tashar Gajere villages where they were reportedly trapped.

The bandits were said to have engaged the police in a gun duel, leading to the death of three of the bandits.

Receiving the corpses at the Police Headquarters in Katsina on Wednesday, CP Buba said two new AK 47 with 15 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered.

Buba stressed that the government plans to deal with banditry but added that the doors of amnesty were still open to any repentant bandit.

“Search parties are still combing the environs with a view to arresting injured bandits and/or recovering dead bodies and their operational weapons.

“I thank the Inspector General of police for his support. He is passionate about peace in Katsina.

“I also thank His Excellency, Governor Aminu Masari as well as officers and men in the command. I assure you all, we in the command are very committed to rid the state of crimes,” he said.
