Amidst growing insecurity in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari had in his 2021 Independence Day speech directed the recruitment of 10,000 policemen annually for the next six years.

Earlier in the week, the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, disclosed that President Buhari had approved salary increment for policemen in the country.

According to Dingyadi, Buhari directed the Salaries and Wages Commission to work out the package and submit it to the government for consideration.

He disclosed this while defending his ministry’s budget before the joint National Assembly committee on police affairs.
