Police Service Commission Promotes 6,455 Officers

No fewer than 6,455 officers have been approved for special promotion by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The approval followed a recommendation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Idris Ibrahim.

The development was revealed in a statement the PSC’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.

Ani disclosed that while CP. Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP), Ajani Olasupo Babatunde, and Olukola Taira Shina, were promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police.

The spokesperson also disclosed that 498 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) were promoted to the next rank of Superintendents of Police (SP).

He said 47 Superintendents of Police (SP) were promoted to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP).

Ani disclosed also that 5,907 Inspectors were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).

“Mohimi D. Edgal and Aji Ali Janga, Deputy Commissioners of Police were appointed Acting Commissioners of Police.

“The promotions and other decisions of the commission, signed by the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Mike Mbama Okiro, will be conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for implementation,” said the commission’s spokesperson.
