Police To Investigate Viral Video Of Brutality In Ilorin, Says Operatives Will Face Wrath Of Law

The Kwara State Police Command on Wednesday says investigations are ongoing into the viral video of some ‘operatives’ who were seen violently attacking some individuals in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Okasanmi Ajayi disclosed this in a phone conversation with THE WHISTLER.

This website had reported two viral videos showing some ‘operatives’ of the police violently harassing some individuals in the state.

Ajayi noted that the attention of the Commissioner of Police had been drawn to the video in circulation and has “directed a discrete investigation into the video, first, to check it’s veracity and secondly to investigate whether the characters are members of the police”.

According to the state command, such violent abuse of the law is not part of its mode of operation, and operatives, if found culpable after investigation, would be made to face the wrath of the law.

“The command here in Kwara state under the leadership of the CP has briefed sufficiently the men on the way to do their jobs but we should also remember that in the crowd of people like that there are some people that would want to go against the law that is punishment for any misconduct.

“We don’t encourage any violent act, especially any act that is gender-based. We take a serious look into this. So if actually, they are members of the command, definitely they are going to be fished out and the necessary punishment will be melted to them,” Ajayi said.

When THE WHISTLER enquired how long the investigation would take, the DSP reaffirmed, “In Kwara State, we don’t cover negative activities of any member of the police force.

” Like I said we are going to investigate it. We are not going to take armageddon before we know what we are doing. It’s a video and it can be easily verified and we will get to the root of it and you will get to see the punishment.

“Recently, some people were dismissed by the command for acts that are inimical to the good image of the command. So If they are found, which I believe they can be found, you will definitely be informed,” the Kwara PPRO said.
