Police Vow To Stop Looters As DIG Oyebade Visits Oyetola

The spate of looting across the country and the consequent state of insecurity was on the mind of the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of South-West, Me Leye Oyebade, when he visited Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, over the looting spree in the state.

The governor , who disclosed the visit on his Twitter handle stated that the DIG led senior police officers on a visit to him.

Oyetola said the DIG assured him of the readiness of the police to restote law and order in the state.

The tweet read, ” This evening, I received a team of senior police officers led by DIG in charge of SouthWest, Leye Oyebade, who assured me of @PoliceNG’s readiness to intensify efforts to ensure peace reigns in Osun, following the wanton looting & destruction of govt & private property by hoodlums.”

Recall that there was massive looting of government properties as well as individual investments in Ede, Osogbo, Ilesa , Iwo and other parts of the state last week.

However the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulah Binuyo, said many of the looters had started returning the stolen items in their possessions.

He said the 72-hour ultimatum given to the looters by the governor has started yeilding positive results, saying whoever returned stolen items in their possessions would not be prosecuted .
