IPOB had earlier disclosed that it would carry out a worldwide rally to protest the continuous incarceration of Kanu by the Federal Government on September 23.

In a statement titled: “Protest Attempt to Cause Breach of Peace,” signed by its Public Relations Officer, Nkeiruka Nwode, the Command warned IPOB members to retrace their steps or face the consequences, stressing that the protest is illegal.

The pro-Biafra group had also ordered residents of the South East geo-political zone to sit-at-home today while markets, schools, banks and other institutions in the region must stay closed as a mark of solidarity for Kanu.

The Command advised parents to warn their children and wards against being used for the protest.

The statement in part, “The attention of the Anambra State Police Command has been drawn to the information that some misguided elements have perfected plans to cause public disorder and conduct themselves in a manner that is likely to cause breach of the peace.
