Popular Transporter Sam Maduka Hopes To Change Nigeria’s Tourism, Education Sectors With Own University

Business mogul and founder of Peace Group, Dr Samuel Maduka Onyishi, says Sam Maduka University, Ekwegbe-Nsukka, in Enugu State will revolutionise the face of tourism and education in Nigeria.

Dr Onyishi disclosed this weekend during a tour of the facilities of the institution in company of Dim Emeka Obasi, a tourism consultant. Onyishi said the university would have an international standard guest house as well as a lake resort to offer topnotch hospitality services to both in-house and walk-in guests.

In his words, “The lake, which is a nexus of the guest house, will have a boat house and a boat club where tourists can take a boat ride to enjoy the panoramic view of the ambience of the waterside. There will also be a park cum recreation centre to cater for children. There will be dedicated shuttles on standby to convey guests to and fro the airport and bus parks. Security will be exclusive. We have provisions for an independent power generating plant and a community-wide internet wi-fi access. Quality water supply is guaranteed.”

THE WHISTLER reports that Sam Maduka University, sitting on a 450-hectares land, is over 75% completion, and has faculties of law, engineering, arts, business and social sciences, physical sciences, education, agriculture, ICT, medicine, among others. It also has provisions for staff quarters.

On his mission for the university, the transport giant said, “It was borne out of my desire to fulfill a vow I made to God several years ago to give back to society. Every student of the university must undertake entrepreneurship courses to equip them with entrepreneurial skills. This makes this university the first in Nigeria to launch such curriculum. The tuition fees at Sam Maduka University will be within the reach of average Nigerians despite its world-class status. We are also simultaneously building the Art Primary and Secondary School with full boarding facilities, as well as a world-class campus stadium to raise sportsmen and women.”

Dim Emeka Obasi, in a speech, commended Dr Onyishi for repositioning the education and tourism sectors in Nigeria, adding that, “Upon completion, Sam Maduka University will not only become the rallying hub for educational acquisition, but the training ground for the nation’s next set of great entrepreneurs. It will redefine the hospitality and education sectors, and further reduce capital flights because it would provide a credible alternative.”
