Power Sector Remains The Bedrock Of Nigeria’s Development – Amb. Igali

In a press statement signed by the Assistant Press Director, Mrs. Etore E. Thomas. The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Power, Amb. (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali emphasized the importance of Power in national development.



As part of efforts to encourage the diversification of the economy to the non-oil sector, the effective development and growth of the power sector must be strengthened, as a means of guaranteeing seamless transition.

This was the position of the Permanent Secretary, Power, Amb. (Dr.) GodknowsIgali, when he met with the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), Mrs. Uju Hassan Baba, in Abuja, today.

Dr, Igali at the meeting stressed that the NIPC, as a key stakeholder, is part of the dream of government in building a robust power sector, stressing that this can only be realized through inter agency collaborations. Amb.Igali enjoined the NIPC boss to reduce the time frame for processing permit and licenses by would be foreign investors. As the gate way to direct foreign investment in Nigeria, the role of NIPC is very important to us in the power sector. He urged her to use her position to give necessary encouragement and opportunities for investors to come and invest as Nigerian government expects much from its agencies in the realization of greater access to power by Nigerians.

Earlier in her remarks, the NIPC boss hadset the agenda for the meeting to reiterate the readiness of her agency to partner with the Ministry of Power because of its importance to national development. The relationship between the NIPC and the Ministry of Power had become even more intertwined as the sector is in its cruising level of privatization. She assured that her agency will remove all impediments in the way of investors, stressing further that NIPC under her watch will work towards implementing its mandate to the letters.
