‘Pray For Father Mbaka,’ Peter Obi Tells Nigerians

Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians not to attack Rev Father Ejike Mbaka over prophecy that his party would fail in the 2019 presidential election.

The social media went agog with a lot of people criticizing Father Mbaka after a video had emerged of him forcing the former Governor of Anambra, Obi, to make a donation at a Bazar organized by his Church, Adoration Ministry.

Speaking during the 2018 harvest and bazaar celebration at his Adoration Ground in Emene, last Sunday, Mbaka had warned Obi that God hates stingy people, adding that if his principal, Atiku Abubakar did not give his church anything, they will fail next year’s election.

But Obi vehemently resisted all the efforts and threats by Mbaka to persuade him into making a public donation.

In a statement by Obi’s media aide, Val Obienyem, the former governor of Anambra State while reacting to the event said he did not feel bad about the priest’s pronouncement.

Obi said rather than criticise Mbaka for his declarations, Nigerians should always remember their priests in prayers, adding that the cleric had always spoken from the “higher perspective of wisdom.”

The statement read: “I have personally reached out to many people restraining them from attacking Fr. Ejike Mbaka because of their love for Peter Obi.

“If you truly respect Obi, please and please, do not attack Fr. Mbaka. In the first instance, His Excellency does not interpret the comments of Fr. Mbaka the way several observers do. While one may disagree with him, we should always acknowledge that he speaks and acts from the higher perspective of wisdom.

“His Excellency believes that every situation, however unpleasant, has positive lessons for us. Please let us leave Fr. Mbaka alone, our duty to him is prayers for God to lead him aright.”
