Presidency Denies EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu’s Sack

Several media had earlier quoted The Guardian newspaper as saying the EFCC boss was asked to vacate his office by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, following the corruption allegations by the Department of State Service (DSS) against the EFCC boss.

“It is not true,” the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, told newsmen on Saturday.

“No truth in the story making the rounds that Magu has been removed as EFCC boss. The AGF is yet to submit his probe report to the President,” Adesina further said in a tweet.

Also refuting the report was the Senior Special Assistant on Media to President Buhari, Mallam Garba Shehu, who noted that the Presidency was still expecting a report by the AGF on the allegations leveled against Magu.

“We are reading reports that the @officialEFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, has been sacked,” Mr. Shehu tweeted Saturday.

“No report has been made available to the Presidency by the Attorney General of the federation over the matter.”

“The report of his sack is therefore speculative and preemptive,” he said.
