President Buhari Meets with Catholic Bishops in Aso Rock (PHOTOS)

The meeting, which started at about 9pm, had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, while leading the delegation of the Bishops is their president, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, Cardinal Onaiyekan; Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah; Archbishop of Benin City, Augustine Akubeze, and a host of others.

The meeting held yesterday at the statehouse in Abuja was regards to the recent deadly Fulani herdsmen’s attacks on various villages across the country, with a particular reference to the recent attack on the Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan.

RecalI, that Onaiyekan was last week attacked by suspected herdsmen along the Benin-Ekpoma Road, which drew outrage from the Catholic faithful.

Speaking at the meeting The Catholic Bishops, through the bishop of Uromi Diocese, Dr. Donatus Ogun, appealed to president Buhari to tackle speedily the issue of the growing cruelty of Fulani herdsmen.
