Presidential Debate: Buhari, Atiku Others To Participate January 19

The Nigerian Election Debate Group has fixed January 19, 2019, as the date for presidential debate that will see the standard-bearer of different political parties unveil their plan for the country ahead of the 2019 general election.

The group’s chairman, Mr. John Momoh, who is also the chairman of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Momoh also disclosed that the debate for vice presidential candidates was scheduled for December 14, 2018.

The main contenders of next year’s presidential election are incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oby Ezekwesili of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and Donald Duke of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

During presidential elections in Nigeria, it has become customary for the flagbearers to engage in a debate.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed February 16th for the Presidential Election.
