Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Emerges 51st Ooni Of Ife

The Osun State Government, on Monday, announced the emergence of Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, as the new Ooni of Ile-Ife.

Ogunwusi, who is of the Giesi ruling house, in the ancient city of Ile-Ife becomes the 51st monarch of the kingdom.

The announcement of his emergence was contained in a statement issued by the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who confirmed that the Kingmakers of Ile-Ife had completed the required process and communicated the choice of Prince Ogunwusi to his office for approval.

Prince Ogunwusi takes over from Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, who joined his ancestors on 28th June 2015 after a brief illness.

The new Ooni was selected from 21 candidates presented by the Giesi ruling house for the exalted stool.

Prince Ogunwusi is a graduate of Accountancy and a certified member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and of the Institute of Management.

Before Prince Ogunwusi’s appointment, the last descendant of the Giesi ruling house that occupied the position was Ooni Derin Ologbenla and that was between 1880 and 1894.
