Properties Vandalised As Yoruba, Hausa Communities Clash In Ondo

There was pandemonium in Sabo area of Akure, Ondo state as the Hausa and Yoruba communities had a clash on Sunday.

The fight left many people injured while several properties were vandalized.

According to reports, the collision began when the followers of a Yoruba masquerade attempted to make a mess of the business activities of Hausa grocery traders along Old garage road when their masquerade was moving around.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, adding that the police had begun investigations into the matter.

“We learnt that some people who were following a masquerade had issues with some members of the Hausa community.

“But immediately we drafted our men there, normalcy was returned.

“We are still looking for the people that caused the crisis, if we arrest them, we will charge them to court,’’ he said.
