Reports reaching the Whistler has it that Punch correspondent at the Presidential Villa has been barred by the presidency.
It was learnt that the Chief Security Officer, CSO expelled him on Monday for allegedly publishing a story on President Muhammadu Buhari’s state of health at the weekend.
But in a swift reaction, the presidency stated that the media office was not consulted before his suspension.
In a statement issued by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina, “an amicable solution would be found to The Punch reporter matter as President Buhari does not intend to muzzle the media in any way.”
We weren’t consulted in the media office by the CSO before he expelled The Punch reporter. President Buhari is committed to press freedom.
