Quit Chelsea Immediately, Super Eagles Boss Tells Mikel

Super Eagles Technical Director, Gernor Rohr has told team captain, John Obi Mikel to quit Chelsea in the next transfer window in other to save his career.

According to the Franco-german, it does not make sense for Mikel to stay in a club where he cannot be guaranteed playing time.

The 29-year-old midfielder has not played a single game for Chelsea, since he returned from the 2016 Olympics, where he won bronze with the Dream Team VI.

Rohr, who was in London to meet with Nike officials, said it was important that Mikel moves to keep his career going.

“He is moving come January transfer window. He cannot stay in a club he is not playing. So he has to move,” Rohr said.

However, Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte said last week that the Nigerian international will remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the January transfer window, despite being freezed out of his starting XI since he took over from interim manager Guus Hiddink in the summer.

Conte said: “The situation with Obi Mikel is simple: he’s in the squad. He stays with us.

There doesn’t appear to be a role suitable for Mikel in Conte’s exciting 3-4-3 formation, and the Italian coach prefers academy product Nathaniel Chalobah to the Nigerian for a backup spot.
