Ramadan Dinner: Buhari Gave Youth ‘N20m Each, Not N2m’ – Presidency

The Presidency has sought to correct the notion that some youths who broke the Ramadan iftar with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday at the Presidential Villa went home with N2 million each.

According to President Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmed, the select youths who comprised entertainers and entrepreneurs received N20 million each as “thanks for coming” package from the president.

Ahmed was responding to a tweet by the convener of the Concerned Nigerians Pro-Democracy Group, Mr Deji Adeyanju, who alleged that the youths received the president’s largesse during their visit to the State House.

Adeyanju, who is a former New Media Director for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had tweeted: “So some youths went to Aso Rock yesterday to see Buhari and collected Thanks for Coming, N2million each. Very soon they will start telling us why it is good for Buhari to continue. Kai, this hunger thing.”

The presidential aide, however, responded to the tweet on Friday, saying: “Wrong information Mr. Deji, it’s N20 million each, you should query your sources.”

Whether or not the presidential aide’s response is verifiable remains ambiguous as of when this report was filed.

Amongst the youths who visited the State House for the Ramadan iftar dinner were Nollywood movie director, Kunle Afolayan, singers Sound Sultan and Small Doctor as well as 2018 Big Brother housemate, Tobi Bakare and others.
