Ras Kimono, Legendary Raggae Singer Is Dead

Nigerian legendary raggae singer, Ras Kimono, has reportedly died in a Lagos hospital.

Popular for his 80s solo album “Under Pressure” and hit single “Rum-Bar Stylée”, Kimono, whose real name is Ukeleke Onwubuya, passed away Sunday morning ahead of his scheduled trip to the Unied States.

The raggae maestro’s colleagues in the showbiz, Tony Okoroji and Sir Shina Peters have reportedly confirmed his sudden death.

According to reports, Ras Kimono passed on after he was rushed to Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi area of the state.

The Delta State musician’s discography include “Under Pressure” and “We No Wan” which were released in1989, “What’s Gwan” in 1990 and “Rub A Dub” in 1990.

He would be fondly remembered by Nigerians and across Africa especially by raggae music lovers.
