Reactions As Madonna University ‘Locks Up’ Students, Lecturer Over Facebook Post

Parents of students of Madonna University have threatened to withdraw their wards over the continued detention of six students and one lecturer.

The six students of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra state and a lecturer were arrested and detained over a post on Facebook since January 2019 over an alleged opinion concerning the management of the school.

On Tuesday, the six students and a lecturer returned to the Awka Prison following the absence of the presiding judge, Justice Babatunde Quadri, of the Federal High Court 2, Awka.

In February, they were granted bail by the court but were unable to fully perfect the bail conditions, which they described as stringent.
