Registration: NECO Shifts Common Entrance Exam To June 5

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has moved the date for National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) from May 29 to June 5.

NECO disclosed this in a tweet which captured the statement of the council’s Head Information and Public Relations Division, Azeez Sani, on Wednesday.

Sani noted that the extension was announced so that parents and guardians can register their candidates for the examination.

“Candidates, parents and guardians are advised to download the new Examination Time Table from the Council’s website: http://neco.gov.ng.

“All candidates, parents, guardians and relevant stakeholders are therefore enjoined to take note of the new date for the examination. The registration of candidates will continue till the new date,” he stated.

Sani stated that the decision was approved by the Federal Ministry of Education.

The examination is a requirement for entry into federal unity colleges.

The development is coming after the Senate had on Tuesday urged the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, and NECO to suspend the policy on National Identity Number registration as requirement for sitting for any of the examinations.

On its part, JAMB had observed that about 600,000 candidates could not meet the deadline for 2021 UTME registration due to NIN hitches.

The board eventually extended registration by two weeks from May 15.
