Regular Sex Frees Women From Depression – Expert

A Nigerian psychiatrist and the medical director of Pinnacle Medical Services Lagos, Maymunah Kadiri has said maintaining a good sex life which includes more kissing, hugging cuddling and holding hands can allay emotional stress or depression.

Reports have shown that women often undergo mood disorders such as the premenstrual, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, as well as depression caused by life circumstances.

Due to this, Kadiri said women who connect more often with their partners under the sheets are more likely to ward off depression than those that never think of grabbing their partners.

“Studies have shown that women who have more active sex and in long term relationships were less likely to be depressed than women who went without sex.

“So, more sex is important and essential. It is a remedy to curing women from having a persistent headache.

“Low sexual drive, which leads to depression, should be looked into. A woman can be depressed when that sexual drive that she used to have is no more there,” Kadiri noted.

She further explained that sex is not just for procreation, but the feel-good hormones and chemicals that are released during sex can reduce symptoms of this mental health challenge and also create bonding, good companionship and sound sleep.
