Removing Netanyahu Will Not Change Israel’s Policies – Palestine Govt

Palestine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that it does not believe that a change of government in Israel will affect the country’s existing policies on the struggles of the Palestinian people under the administration of former prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that the Supreme Parliament of Israel (Knesset) had on Sunday, appointed Naftali Bennett as the new prime minister of the country, thereby ending the twelve-year reign of his predecessor, Netanyahu.

But reacting to the development, the Palestine ministry said that the person of Netanyahu was simply removed by a coalition of parties and not necessarily his policies.

The ministry claimed that his successor, Benneth, has a similar worldview as Netanyahu.

“This time, a government was formed in Israel without Netanyahu, yet it is inaccurate to call it a government of change, unless the change is intended to remove Netanyahu. As for his policies, we estimate that they will not change if we do not see worse than them, especially since Israeli leaders in the new government such as Bennett Sa’ar Kano is considered to be on the right of Netanyahu. Here, the following questions arise: What is the position of the new government on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital?,” it asked in statement published on its website on Sunday.

However, the United States government, while congratulating Benneth on Sunday, stated that it wants to resolve the conflict between Israel, Palestine and the Middle East.
