Rep Alleges Fund Diversion In Ministry Of Works, Calls For Budget Monitoring Committee

A member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Mansur Ali Mashi, has alleged that funds budgeted for projects at the Ministry of Works and Housing are being diverted.

The member representing Mashi-Dutsi Federal Constituency of Katsina State, did not however name those diverting funds.

The Rep member had also forwarded a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari containing his allegations and requesting him to set up a Budget Technical Committee to ensure projects contained in the budget are delivered.

This was contained in a statement sent to THE WHISTLER on Thursday.

Mashi, who did not substantiate his claims in the statement, however said he had evidence of his allegation.

He said the committee should have the mandate to determine those who are to execute projects, adding that it will be their responsibility to ascertain the suitability of the projects.

The lawmaker said he would be ready to defend his allegation against the Ministry of Works whenever called to do so.

Mashi did not pick his calls and did not respond to messages sent to his phone.
