Report Of Missing Policemen In Enugu False – CP

The Enugu State Police Command, Sunday, debunked rumours making the rounds that nine of its personnel had gone missing. This followed a report by an online television alleging that nine policemen went missing in the state. THE WHISTLER gathered that the report was published on 27th August, 2020 by one Chibuzor Akoma via “Daily Time TV”.

A release by the state police public relations officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, which was made available to our correspondent in Enugu, called on the residents of the state to disregard ‘such falsehood being peddled by misguided and mischief-makers in its entirety, as such incident did not happen anywhere in the state neither did the command confirm nor issue any statement in that regard’.

According to Ndukwe, “The state commissioner of police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman, has warned peddlers of such malicious, misleading and mendacious information capable of causing tension and affecting the tranquility enjoyed in the state to desist forthwith. He made it clear that perpetrators will be made to face the full weight of the law.”

The commissioner further reassured the command’s commitment towards providing adequate security for the protection of lives and property as well as the maintenance of peace and order in the state.

The statement added that, “Citizens of the state have been enjoined to remain law-abiding, verify and be sure that any information shared on social media is genuine to avoid spreading falsehood. They are also called upon to promptly report any person(s) found and/or known to be peddling such fake and malicious information to the nearest police station or call the command’s emergency hotlines on: 08032003702, 08086671202, 08075390883 or 08098880172.”
