REPS: Gbajabiamila Names Doguwa, Other Principal Officers For House

The Member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State, Alhassan Doguwa has been appointed as the leader of the house in the ninth House of Representatives.

Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila made the announcement today, Thursday during plenary.

He also announced the appointment of others to include Peter Akpatason as Deputy Leader, Tahir Monguno as Chief Whip and Nkeiruka Onyejeocha as Deputy Chief Whip.

Doguwa is the immediate past Chief Whip of the House.

The latest appointments are coming less than 24 hours Gbajabiamila announced the appointment of various positions for the minority leadership in the house. The announcement sparked uproar in the green chambers.

This was as a result of the appointment of Ndudi Elumelu from Delta State as the Minority Leader against the preferred choice of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kingsley Chinda.

Elumelu’s appointment was vehemently rejected by some PDP lawmakers.

Recall that the opposition party had in a letter announced Kingsley Chinda as its leader in the House.

The party also nominated Chukwuka Onyema as Deputy Minority Leader, Yakubu Barde as Minority Whip and Muraina Ajibola as Deputy Minority Whip.
