Reps, Service Chiefs In Closed-Door Meeting
The House of Representatives is currently in a closed-door meeting with service chiefs and Minister of Defence.
This is coming on the heels of an earlier closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja on February 3, 2020
The meeting may not be unconnected with a summon issued by the green chambers last week over the deteriorating security situation in the country.
Recall that Abia Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe had on January 29 called on the president and security chiefs in the country to resign, alleging that the administration has not been able to contain the rise of insecurity in the country.
Abaribe’s call steered divergent reactions across the country as the insecurity challenge in the nation is on the rise – with the murder of the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Michika Local Government Area, Adamawa State, Reverend Lawan Andimi, despite claims by the federal government that it has defeated Boko-Haram.
House Committee on National Intelligence, Navy, Army, Air Force and Defence are also present at the meeting.
The Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila is being expected at the meeting which is ongoing.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu had earlier arrived and proceeded straight to the office of the speaker.
