#RevolutionNow: You Remind Me Of Saddam Hussein’s Spokesman, Sowore Slams Femi Adesina

Convener of the #RevolutionNow protests and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted swiftly to the remark made by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, about the protests held in parts of the country on Wednesday.

Adesina had appeared on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, where he described the protests as mere child’s play and “an Irritation”.

The presidential spokesperson said on the programme: “By my estimation, it just seemed like a child’s play because protests by their very nature are spontaneous things, mass things. These are just a sprinkle of people trying to be funny. As far as I am concerned, it is nothing to worry about,” he said.

Adesina stated, “I think it was just a funny thing to call it a revolution protest,” adding that, “Revolution is something that turns the normal order. What happened yesterday, would you call it a revolution? It was just an irritation, just an irritation and some people want to cause irritation in the country and what I will say is when things boil over, they boil over because you continue to heat them.”

But responding almost immediately via his Twitter account, Sowore described Adesina as arrogant.

The publisher said the presidential aide reminded him of a spokesman to the late former president of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, who was sentenced to death by hanging for crimes against humanity.

Sowore tweeted’ “Did you watch @FemAdesina on @channelstv this morning? the man was a pathetic figure on TV-arrogance, imbecility and childish bellicossity- is all I could see and hear! Mr. Adesina reminds of another spokesperson of the Saddam era in Iraq, Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf aka”Comical Ali””
