Rita Dominic’s Worry About Nigeria Will Scare You!

Nigerian Nollywood Actress Rita Dominic, in a rare comment on the state of the nation, has called on Nigerian leaders to douse the tension in the land before the country slides into anarchy.

She said this in a post made on her official Twitter page on Monday.

In spite of the daily killings and kidnappings facing the country, President Muhammadu Buhari’s senior media assistant, Garba Shehu, had claimed that the country is currently safer than 2015 when his principal took office.

Shehu, while appearing on Channels TV’s ‘Sunday Politics’, claimed that the Buhari administration to a large extent had “subdued” the country’s herdsmen crisis, killings and kidnappings by bandits.

“Boko Haram is now on the fringes of Lake Chad. As far as Boko Haram terrorism is concerned, Nigeria is a safer place today than it was when we took over power.”

However, reacting to the indiscriminate killings of innocent citizens, Dominic called on leaders to do everything within their powers to stop the killings.

“I am afraid that we are watching Nigeria slip into anarchy. It is surreal. Our elected officials need to work harder to douse the tension in the country.

“We need peace to reign. Harassing and killing innocent citizens can never solve anything,” Her tweet reads.

Some Nigerians who commented on her post expressed anger at the incessant killings in the country.

@GloryUzochukwu said, “It can never solve anything!! But they choose to do everything by force.”

@vechris also said, “This has been happening for decades. I mean there’s a terrorist group that live in the country. But since they’re in the north, South and west thought they were safe from the madness. Now it’s everywhere. Sad thing it will only get worse.”
