Rivers LG Chairmen Warn IPOB Of Consequences For Violation Of Proscription Order

After allegedly attacking some groups and destroying a police barrack, four stations and several vehicles, the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, banned all activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) last Wednesday.

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Rivers State Chapter, has now vowed to enforce the directives Governor Wike concerning the proscription of IPOB in Rivers State.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Evangelist Hope Ikiriko, Publicity Secretary of ALGON in a radio program on Monday monitored by THE WHISTLER, said the association, “Cautioned everyone living in any local government area in the state to be law abiding as they will not tolerate any act of lawlessness in the guise of IPOB activities.

“We will not hesitate to invoke the necessary aspects of the law to deal decisively with anyone that attempts to disobey the orders of the Governor of Rivers State by carrying out any activities of the proscribed IPOB here in Rivers State.” he stated.

ALGON therefore, advises everyone living in any local government area of Rivers State to remain calm and be law abiding as they are committed to maintaining the peace in the state.

The Rivers State Police Command had accused IPOB of being behind recent violence in the state, especially the mayhem that took place at Oyigbo Local Government Area where several people were reported dead and properties worth millions destroyed.
