Rivers Police Arrest ‘Frolicking’ Officer Involved In Killing Of Keke Rider

Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a tricycle (Keke) operator by one of its operatives in Port Harcourt on Thursday morning.

THE WHISTLER had reported that an officer of the command operating around the Rukpokwu axis of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state shot a Keke rider after he refused to give N100 bribe.

Having learnt of his death, the officer took to his heels, causing an uprising in the area where the incident took place.

Reacting to the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Naomi Omoni said the officer, “who went on his own frolicking”, has been arrested and detained.

“He is facing trial almost immediately to serve as a deterrent to others,” the police said.

The PPRO said although the command was yet to get details of the incident, the police was doing its best to control the rampage that broke out as a result of the incident.
