Robbers Arrested With ‘Revolver Pistol’ In Onitsha

One Chibuike Okwuosa, ‘m’, aged 24 years old, and one Odigbo Chidera, ‘m’, aged 26 years old, all residents of Awada, Anambra State, were weekend nabbed by the police operatives while operating near Shoprite, Onitsha using “revolver pistol” among other weapon.

Other exhibits allegedly recovered from them include a firearm, ammunition and one unregistered Toyota Venza.

According to a release by the PPRO, Anambra State Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, “On the 14/11/2020, at about 10:05pm, there was a distress call that two suspected armed robbery gang were operating near Shoprite, Onitsha. Following the distress call, police operatives attached to the command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) quickly responded, rushed to the scene and arrested one Chibuike Okwuosa, ‘m’, aged 24 years old, and one Odigbo Chidera, ‘m’, aged 26 years old, all residents of Awada.

“One revolver pistol, five rounds of .9mm life ammunition, one dagger and an unregistered Toyota Venza car were recovered from them. The case has been referred to the State Criminal investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigations after which the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.”

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, CP John B. Abang, has assured residents of the state of adequate security, while urging them not to relent in providing timely information to the command through the emergency number 07039194332 or 112 for prompt response.
