Robbers Escaped After Gun Duel With Troops In Jos, 2 Dead

Two notorious armed robbers have been killed by troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN while several others escaped around Rock Haven general area in Jos North LGA of Plateau State.

The Defence headquarters said the robbers were overpowered and killed by the troops during a gun duel, while others fled in disarray with gunshot wounds.

According to the force, the attack on the robbers by the troops followed actionable intelligence on the activities of the gang on 2 July 2020.

Furthermore, it said the attack was “in continuation of reinvigorated, intensive clearance operations aimed at decisively curtailing armed banditry and other forms of criminality in the North Central and North-West regions of the country.”

“The corpses of the robbers, along with 2 locally fabricated pistols recovered, and other items stolen from their victims, have been handed over to the Nigerian Police authorities in Jos for further action.”
