Rohr Release 30-Man Provisional World Cup List

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has released a 30-man provisional squad for the Russia 2018 World Cup scheduled to hold from 14th June – 15th July.

Majority of the players that executed the qualification campaign to the football showpiece were included in the squad.

Kano Pillars striker Junior Lokosa and Crotone attacker Simeon Nwankwo are the surprise inclusions as Malaga’s Brown Ideye and Everton’s Henry Onyekuru have been left out.

In Coach Rohr’s 30-man provisional list are goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi, Dele Ajiboye and Francis Uzoho.

The defenders are Elderson Echiejile, Shehu Abdullahi, Ola Aina, William Troost Ekong, Leon Balogun, Tyronne Ebuehi, Bryan Idowu, Chidozie Awaziem, Stephen Eze and Kenneth Omeruo.

Skipper John Obi Mikel leads the midfield, which has also Wilfred Ndidi, Ogenyi Onazi, John Ogu, Mikel Agu, Ogenekaro Etebo, Uche Agbo and Joel Obi.

The attackers are Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Simeon Nwankwo, Moses Simon, Junior Lokosa and Odion Ighalo

Eagles will play host to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Port Harcourt on 25th May, after which the final squad will be announced, they will then depart the country to play England and the Czech Republic on June 2 and June 5 respectively.

Nigeria are drawn alongside Croatia, Argentina and Iceland at the tournament and will play their first match of the tournament on Saturday, June 16 against Croatia.
