Ronaldo Scores 799th Goal As United Move To Round 16 Of Champions League

The post -Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era for Manchester United started on a good note after they beat Villareal 2-0 to qualify for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The Premier League side had sacked former coach, Solskjaer on Sunday after a 4-1 embarrassing loss to Watford.

With Solskjaer departure as manager, the club’s former midfielder Michael Carrick was appointed the interim manager.

But the Group F game which held at the Estadio de la Ceramica saw United top the Group F with 10 points, while Unai Emery’s Villarreal were dumped second place with 7 points.

The game which was goalless in the 77th minute changed in favour of the Red Devils after Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 799th senior career goal in the 78th minute.

Jadon Sancho has never scored under Solskjaer but he netted his first after the reign of the Norwegian.

With the result, United are unbeaten in six UEFA Champions League games against the Spanish team.
