Russia President Vladmir Putin To Seek Re-Election Next Year

Russia President Vladmir Putin has announced his intention to seek another term in office in next year’s election.

Putin made the announcement on Wednesday in a speech to workers at a car factory in Nizhny Novgorod, according to the BBC.

“I will put forward my candidacy for the post of president of the Russian federation,” he said.

The country is expected to conduct their next presidential election in March 2018.

Mr Putin has been in power since 2000, either as president or prime minister. If he is re-elected next year, he would be eligible to serve until 2024.
