Sack Amaechi, Technology Minister Immediately, Afenifere Tells Buhari

Recall that the ministers were accused by Justice Okoro Inyang and Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of trying to influence court judgement of two elections on different occasions.

Afenifere, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin, urged President Buhari to prove his sincerity in fight against corruption by asking both Amaechi and Onu to step down as ministers, just as many have asked judges alleged to be corrupt to step aside.

The group also condemned the raid on judges’ homes in Rivers state by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS).

“For the ministers who have been mentioned for attempting to pervert the course of justice, we are asking that such ministers should step aside immediately as ministers of Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.

“After that, they should go through due process of the law to either ascertain their innocence or not, they should be punished according to the laws of the land. So we cannot be saying only judges that have accused should be investigated. Ministers too, who have been accused should step aside and face prosecution.

“Investigating corruption is within the purview of the EFCC, ICPC and the police,” it added.
