Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has slammed the Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari for stating that the current outbreak of CerebroSpinal meningitis (CSM) is God’s way of pouring his anger on Nigerians.

Recall that yesterday, the Zamfara governor whose state has been worst affected by the disease, said that the Meningitis outbreak which has killed over 200 people in his state was the wrath of God.

“The most important thing is for our people to know that their relationship with God is not smooth. All they need to do is repent and everything will be all right,” the governor said this at the presidential villa in Abuja after meeting President Muhammdu Buhari.

But the Emir, during his keynote address titled “promoting investment amidst economic challenges” at the second edition of the Kaduna Investment Summit (KADINVEST), on Wednesday, said that the statement was an “incorrect one to make.”

“How have we reduced ourselves, what have we done as a people? That we have placed ourselves in this situation,” he said.

“We don’t have vaccines; we don’t have vaccines, go and buy vaccine. Treat those who have caught it. Don’t give these guys some explanations. But this is the mindset.

“I have a degree in Islamic law and that is not an islamically correct statement to make,” he said.

Meanwhile, Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-Rufai, speaking earlier said that his state is the only one in the entire federation to have started the year 2017 with an approved budget.

“I am happy to say the Ease of Doing Business report was approved by the executive council and the results are beginning to show,” he said.

“African Finance Corporation recently ranked Kaduna as the fastest growing state in Nigeria, and we appreciate that.

“Our Kaduna Infrastructure master plan is Kaduna 2018 to 2050; the plan looks at the needs of Kaduna state including population projections till 2050. As you know that by the year 2050, Nigeria will have a population of 450 million million, and will be the third largest nation in the world in terms of population, after India and China.

“And about six percent of that population will be living in Kaduna state. This master plan takes in account all these factors. We hope to unveil it today.
