For many celebrities in the Nigerian entertainment industry, 2021 will be a year that they will never forget in a hurry because of the scandals that rocked their personal lives.

As the year comes to an end, THE WHISTLER takes a look at some of the major celebrity scandals that made the headlines this year.

Alleged Infidelity Scandal Between 2baba And Wife, Annie:

Annie Idibia, wife of popular Nigerian music star 2Baba, had in September 2021 called out her husband over his suspicious relationship with one of his baby mama, Pero Adeniyi.

Trouble surfaced after Annie in a now-deleted Instagram post claimed that the singer ‘‘slept under the same roof’’ with Adeniyi Pere and the children when they vacationed in Disneyland, United States.

Pero who is based in the US is 2Baba’s first baby mama who gave birth to three kids for the music star.

The actress stated that some of the actions of the singer brought public disgrace to her. She also lamented that she deserves better from him for always being by his side even when it was glaring that 2Baba’s family never liked her.

Annie had alleged that her husband had deceived her when he claimed he went for a video shoot for his album.

She alleged that 2Baba connived with his cousin, Frank and his manager, Efe Omorogbe, to travel to the United States in order to be with his baby mama

Tonto Dikeh’s Controversial Break-Up With Prince Kpokpogri:

Nollywood star, Tonto Dikeh, and her ex-lover, Prince Kpokpogri, dominated the social media space all through the month of September when the partners announced the end of their relationship after unfollowing each other on Instagram.

The once happy relationship that had existed between the duo crashed after a viral voice note and a phone call between Kpokpogri and a socialite was leaked online.

Since then, both of them have been engaging in war of words on Instagram.

Kpokpogri had described his ex-lover as “Helen of Troy” and claimed their short-lived affair was “more or less a living hell.”

“We dated for barely three months and it was more or less a living hell! So much has happened in such little time that I overlooked it for the sake of the so-called relationship and my sanity,’’ he reacted to their breakup.

Following their separation, Dikeh in a petition against Kpokpogri dated September 6, which was addressed to the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, through her counsels in Festus Keyamo Chambers, Okechukwu Uju-Azorji, and Arinze Egbo made several shocking revelations.

She accused him of blackmail, extortion, threat to life, hacking, obtaining by false pretense and cyberstalking, among others.

Kpokpogri on the other hand also accused his ex-lover of infidelity and drug addiction.

Tiwa Savage’s Leaked Sex Tape:

Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, had in October revealed that she was being blackmailed over a sex video during an interview with American OAP, Angie Martinez of Power 105.1, and begged fans to defend her when the intimate video hits the Internet.

The ” Water And Garri” crooner claimed that the sex video was mistakenly uploaded on Snapchat by her lover, and was deleted immediately, adding that the blackmailer got a hold of the video before it was removed.

Her revelation drew mixed reactions from Nigerians. As some felt that she was lying, others wondered how someone who referred to herself as a grown-up woman, a mother, and a role model could make a sex tape and publicise it, even if it was just for one second.

Before the sex tape surfaced online, the singer while performing at a show event in Lagos on 17 October 2021 had boasted that no one would see the tape.

However, a blog known as ‘Gistlovers’ took to Instagram to post Tiwa Savage’s video after its first Instagram page got deleted.

Before the video surfaced, Tiwa Savage had called out Gistlover, saying that she was in control of the scandal.

“You hated how I was able to control the narrative and get ahead of a story before it consumed me and how I’m able to joke on stage about something you thought should destroy me and make me feel ashamed. You must knock my head when you see me @Gistloversblog1 with my full chest,” she had said.

Gistlovers reacted and said, “Hello, she saw a lot of people finally know it’s all stunt then she had to come up with something all to trend, well madam since you want to trend, let’s meet on Snapchat.”

Controversial Divorce Between Ned Nwoko And Moroccan Wife Laila:

Laila Charani, the fifth wife of a Nigerian politician and philanthropist Ned Nwoko, had in October 2021 publicly disclosed that she was divorced from the businessman.

Her disclosure made Nigerians thought there seemed to be trouble between Nwoko and his Moroccan wife Laila Charani, following her revelation that she has divorced the Nigerian.

Some fans had accused Nwoko’s actress wife, Regina Daniels of using ‘kayamata’ to end her husband’s marriage to the Moroccan model, which later led to an exchange of words between Regina Daniels and Jaruma.

The model had asked fans who followed her because of the ex husband to unfollow her, “I just want to say no one has the right to talk about my marriage. Please stop talking about people’s lives. I have divorced already and nothing between me and him. Anybody following me because of him can unfollow, please. Thanks. I’ll block any negative comment.”

Later in a statement, Nwoko revealed why he divorced his Moroccan wife Laila. The former member of the House of Representatives alleged that their divorce was because of Laila’s wayward lifestyle and penchant for surgeries without his permission.

A statement from Nwoko’s media team via his Instagram page also dispersed rumours that his separation was linked to the use of a local aphrodisiac called ‘Kayamata’, sold by Hauwa Mohammed, popularly known as Jaruma.

While clarifying the factors that led to the divorce, the statement said, “The neglect of the kids, violence on them, plastic surgery without the knowledge of her husband, wayward lifestyle abroad, contact with a man, police case and involvement of a lawyer in London were the major concerns that Ned Nwoko found disturbing and unacceptable.

“In all these weighty allegations, her only defense was that someone ‘set her up’. She never explained who did and for what purpose.

“Ned Nwoko Media Directorate wishes to reiterate that himself and the entire family has no connection with Jaruma products contrary to false narratives even as he bears no blame on the widely reported divorce issue with Laila.”

Erectile Dysfunction Palaver Between FFK And Ex-wife Chinwendu:

An ex-beauty queen, Precious Chikwendu, who was also an ex wife to former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode had on 7 December 2021 told a Customary Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja that her ex-husband never consummated his six-year relationship with her because he allegedly had erectile dysfunction.

Chikwendu also revealed that she was forced to remain celibate during the co-habition and alleged that the four children she gave birth to in her affair with Mr Fani-Kayode were conceived via artificial insemination.

However, amidst the legal tussle for the custody of their four kids, the estranged wife had in September 2021 called him out on social media.

Chikwendu, whose marriage to Fani-Kayode hit the rocks in 2020 over allegations of infidelity and domestic violence, took to Instagram to accuse him of causing “emotional damage” to their kids.

She said that since August 2020 that she walked out of the the marriage with Kayode, she had been continuously denied access to her children and her children have been continuously deprived of motherly care and protection.

The ex-beauty queen said by denying the kids access to their mother, the former minister and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was doing them a disservice.

Infidelity And Child Paternity Imbroglio Between Nedu And ex-wife Uzoamaka

Uzoamaka Ohiri who is the wife of a popular On-Air Personality, Ani Chinedu Emmanuel professionally known as Nedu Wazobia had in September 2021 accused him of domestic violence.

Nedu who is famous for adding a unique spin to his pidgin rendition of the daily news on popular radio station Wazobia FM 94.1 Lagos got married to Uzoamaka Ohiri on 31 May 2013.

Ohiri had in an post through her Instagram story @hazel_uzor accused the Radio talk show presenter of domestic violence, alleging that he does not take care of the welfare of his children.

She also revealed that the Wazobia OAP had beaten her few weeks after she had an operation while his mother watched. She had wondered why Wazobia Fm 94.1 Lagos, still allows her ex-husband to host marriage talk shows even when he is one of the many men that beat their wives to stupor.

Following the call out by his estranged wife, the OAP took to his official Instagram page @nedu_wazobiafm to narrate his side of the story.

While reacting to the accusations leveled against him, Nedu stated that he does not encourage or support any form of domestic violence.

He, however, disclosed that his wife’s infidelity led him to carry out a paternity test which revealed that his first son is not his biological child, and he also shared a picture of DNA result which showed the the first son is not his.

“Our marriage was one plaqued with a lot of issues. One of which was continuous infidelity from her side that led to me conducting a paternity test on our kids which led to the revelation that our first son is not my biological son even though he was born within the period during which we were married.”

He went on to say, “On the allegation of domestic violence, we have had this matter investigated twice, one the police station in Ajah and another by a competent court of law during the dissolution of our marriage.

“Both times I was cleared of all allegations and I have the necessary proof to back up my claim. If any one should be laying claims to domestic violence it should be me,” Nedu reacted.

Controversial Love Tangle Between BBNaija’s Boma And Tega:

The Big Brother Naija ‘Shine Ya Eye’ edition witnessed several evictions and drama since it began on July 24.

Tega and Boma’s alleged amorous 1 was one that surprised the housemates and caused tongue wagging among viewers of the show.

Tega after she was evicted from the show admitted that she and Boma pushed their luck too far when they engaged in intimate moments in the House.

Tega, 29, and a mother of one was the only married woman during the season 6 edition of Big Brother show. Fans of the show had expressed disappointment on her for engaging in an amorous relationship with a housemate, Boma on live TV while still being married.

Tega, had while explaining what happened under the duvet with Boma said, “I went in too hard. We never crossed the boundary. No sex; but we needed something for it to look real.

“I also saw videos of when he called me to the executive lounge and I was still trying to take off my nightwear.

“I think I wanted to have a bath when he called me to get dressed fast. When he said that, I just took off my nightwear and wore jeans and a singlet, then we went in.

“The kiss was prompted by us talking about the production crew focused on what we were doing.

“For those saying he fingered me, that never happened. We never crossed the boundary.

“I am not saying this to defend myself, but I own up to everything and admit that I went in too hard.”

Both Boma and Tega were voted out of the show by fans shortly after their sexual controversy.
