SDP Expels Jerry Gana, Suspends Donald Duke

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, has expelled Professor Jerry Gana and its Acting National Chairman, Supo Shonibare from the party.

The duo were expelled by the party over anti-party activities.

The party also suspended its presidential candidate, Donald Duke for being critical of the party and disrespecting it.

SDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Yemi Akinbode, during a press briefing at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, on Tuesday said the expulsion and suspension is with immediate effect.

Recall that the party, few days ago, the party endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections.

The party in a statement said the decision was part of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

“The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has resolved to adopt President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as candidates of our party for the 2019 presidential election.

“The decision was due to a lingering legal battle between Donald Duke, the winner of the SDP presidential primaries and his major challenger, Prof. Jerry Gana.”
